OUR PROCESS
OUR FEES
Approach
We believe in transparency in fees, as we understand it can be challenging to commit to a full scope of services upfront. For this reason, we operate on a fixed fee rather than a percentage basis, giving you peace of mind our fees will not fluctuate with construction costs.
Custom quotes
Each project is different, and what you are after is unique. Accordingly, we set our fees based on the required scope and time involved to deliver what you’re after.
Influencing factors
Designing and building a home can be a complex task. Elements such as site terrain, bushfire zones, planning and heritage regulations can influence the overall scope. During the initial consultation, we discuss any influencing factors with you to ensure our fee reflects the tailored design journey your project deserves.
FAQ
-
What kind of costs should I be allowing for?Apart from engaging the architect and builder, there will be external consultants required to deliver your project (outlined in the next answer). Outside of our design fees and consultants’ fees, there will also be costs associated with obtaining authority approvals. We usually recommend our clients set aside a healthy contingency for any unforeseen costs that may arise during the project, especially for renovations.
-
What about external consultants? We work with a great team of collaborators to ensure the process flows as smoothly as possible. As each project has different requirements, we can help determine who is needed and when. At a minimum, you will need to engage a Land Surveyor, Geotechnical Engineer, Structural Engineer, Energy Rater and Building Surveyor for a successful project.
-
How long does the process take? This varies between projects and can change with the inclusions you select. For a full service project, it can be upwards of 6 months to a year before construction can commence, dependent on whether a planning permit is required or if there are complex site conditions. As a small studio we only take on a limited number of projects per year — book in an initial consultation to discuss the variables influencing your project’s timeline.
